SERAYA (Russia)
Designer: Ksenia Seraya
Year of foundation: 2015
The new capsule of SERAYA, a brand of contemporary knitwear, abandons traditional seasonal large collections. This is the brand's reaction to the new reality caused by 2020. The concept is concentrated in few outfits and implies sustainability – these outfits are off-season and timely in almost every season. The main subject of the capsule is going back to simplicity and naivety, being ready to renovation of your life through finding powers in your own childhood, when the world was large and limitless, and you were bold enough to take new steps every day. Most of the pieces have been handmade by Moscow masters. The knitting is intentionally made to look offhanded, as an old doll sweater knitted by a child. Yarns and patterns are focused on comfort and tactile sensations – these outfits feel like the second skin. 80% of items on this capsule are made of materials remaining from the previous collections (a tribute to the new economical reality). The yarns list includes kid mohair, merino wool, mercerized cotton, and viscose. The capsule's assortment is smaller than in the previous collections in favor of the brand's most demanded models – dresses, jumpers, and cardigans. Accessories for this project have been handmade by a St. Petersburg based designer Nadezhda Glebovskaya.
